201 of 551 purchases finished ahead of the S&P 500 after 90 days. 350 finished behind it.
The middle result is −3.3 pts against the index. This describes what happened to these purchases, and says nothing about what any stock will do next.
Only open-market purchases of $50,000 or more are counted, the ones an insider paid for with their own money. The clock starts on the first trading day after the purchase was reported to the SEC, which is when anyone could first see it. The stock’s move is then compared with the S&P 500 (the 500 biggest US companies, a common yardstick) over the same days, using prices adjusted for splits and dividends. A purchase is only counted once that many days have passed, so recent ones show “too recent to measure”.
This lists what happened and is not investment advice. Insiders buy for many reasons, and a result over a few months says little about the next few.
